Something unforgettable in our lives ...........

I felt very excited when I reached Marina Bay. I saw Adrian Tan, Huda Ali and many other celebrities. I did not find the dancing too interesting but there were the jet planes and fireworks J.When the jet planes flew past, it was so loud that I felt like I was going to go deaf. The fire works were very nice too. I hope Singapore will progress onwards and have peace.

On 19th July 2008, my school West View Primary brought me and the other P5 pupils to Marina bay to watch the NE show. My classmates and I were very excited when we reached there at about 4.55pm. When we arrived, it was raining and we had to put on the poncho. I loved the Black Knights, Red Lions, V3000 and the fireworks. We also sang National Day songs. When it started raining again, my friend and I did not put on our poncho as it had a strange smell. At about 9.30pm, we headed home. We loved Singapore more.

During the NE show and felt happy and excited. It was raining heavily and the chairs were all wet. In the evening, we were entertained by the performers. I liked the Black Knights, V3000 and the hosts the most. We did the Singapore wave and it was fun. I was nice to be there in Marina Bay. The fireworks were amazing and had beautiful colours and shapes. I felt that Singapore was my home and we were united as one together.

On 19 July 2008, my classmates and I went to the NE show. It was very fun. We had our dinner there and watched a performance. The best part was the Black Knights’ performance. I wish to go for the NE show again. It was the best time of my life.

On 19 July 2008, we went to Marina Bay to watch the NE show. When we arrived, it was raining and it made the seats wet. The teachers told us to put on our ponchos and walk quickly. When the show started, it was really exciting, especially the fire works. My friends and I felt that they were really beautiful. I feel happy to go to Marina Bay to watch the NE show.

During the NE show, I felt good. There were fireworks shooting up into the sky. We sang songs like Shine for Singapore and Home. The most wonderful performance was when the people on the wheelchairs performed. It was amazing and there were loud applauses from us. When we were on our way home, we had to wait for the bus and we sang the song Home while we were waiting. I felt good. I hope to go for the parade again.

19 July was the day we went for the NE show. I was so excited J. It took us 45 minutes to get there. As we approached Marina Bay, I got more and more excited! It was my first time there. When we reach Marina Bay, we had to wait, but the worst part was that it was RAINING! it rained so many times. We were so unfortunate. 15 minutes later, we were in, but we had to sit on the top and I’m afraid of heights! I was determined to conquer my fear to enjoy the show. My mind was on the show. I liked the Black Knights and Red Lions, it was amazing and the performance was great! There were people coming down from planes with parachutes. It was so cool. At night, the best performance was the fireworks. All the different patterns and colours! Wow! It was so beautiful.

I was so excited before the NE show. When I reached Marina Bay, I saw so many people. I could not wait to get in. It was raining and we had to wear the poncho. It was so fun watching the performances in the rain! I cheered so loudly that even my classmate An Xin turned around to look at me. The performance was great. I loved the part where we sang the national songs. I LOVE SINGAPORE! I feel that I am really part of Singapore.

The NE show was very fun and exciting. I wish I could go for it many times. The part I liked most was the fireworks, the Black Knights, the boats and the floats. The worst thing which spoilt the show was the rain. We had to put on the ponchos and it was very troublesome. My poncho had a hole in it because the sticker I put on my shirt got stuck on it and when I peeled it off it left a hole!
On the stage were many people and the soldiers formed the word NDP 08. I hope that I can perform at Marina Bay too when I am in secondary school. I also want to watch the show again. I like the NE show.

I went to Marina Bay on 19th July 2008 to watch the NE show. I was so excited. But we were unlucky because it rained! When we reached the floating stage, the rain stopped. As the seats were wet, we used our ponchos to cover seats and sat on it. We ate out dinner and watched the show at the same time. When the Black Knights were flying above us, it was so COOL! We also had lots of performances. There was really team spirit when they were performing because they performed so well. At the end of the performance were the fireworks. It was very beautiful. I feel honoured to be part of the celebrations.

NE Day was simply SUPerB!!!!!

What a day!

The NE show was very exciting. I was thrilled by the fighter planes and fireworks. They were fantastic. Although it rained while we were waiting for the performances to being, it stopped long enough for us to enjoy the rest of the show. Though some of the songs were translated into Malay and Chinese ones, I still enjoyed listening to them.

Wonderful memories of NE show

The NE show was great! The sound of the fighter planes was deafening but the image they created in the sky was spectacular. The other performance that I felt was amazing was the one put by the Red Lions. They jumped off from a helicopter and opened their parachutes. It rained towards the end of the show. It was all right for us as we had our ponchos but I wondered how the performers felt while performing in the rain. Overall, I had an enjoyable time and I hope there will be another chance for me to go there again.

An unforgettable day!

There is just no other word to describe the NE show. It was simply amazing! My favourite segment was the fireworks display. The multi-coloured lights made the rain look like snow. I sat between Ain and Shu Yi and we had lots of fun. The toilet was terrible though as the queue was never-ending. However, that certainly did not dampen our moods. I am really glad that I had a chance to go to the NE show!

My memorable moment

My memorable moment at the NE show was when the fireworks display started. The rain did not stop the fun. I also liked the part when the black knights flew past. They put up a stunning performance. I’m so proud of them!

I love Singapore!

I had a great time at the NE show and it will always remain as a wonderful memory. Even though it rained towards the end of the show, it neither dampened the Singapore Spirit nor stopped Singaporeans from singing the national anthem and saying the pledge proudly in their ponchos. I love Singapore!

My first time…

It was my first time watching the national day parade. Even though it was just a rehearsal, I was still looking forward to it. The show was very interesting. The performers performed very well on the stage. The jet planes flew majestically and the pilots performed some stunts. Time passed very quickly. The most exciting part of the show was finally here. It was the fireworks! All of us were screaming at the top of our voices. When the show ended, some of us were sad. I am very fortunate that I had a chance to watch the NE show.

My favourite day!

On 19th July, all the P5 classes went to the NE show. When I reached the school hall, I received my goodie bag. There were a lot of cool things in it. We took the bus to City Hall. When I alighted from the bus, I saw the supreme court. It looks majestic. It started to rain and we had to wear our ponchos. There were many wonderful performances. I took pictures of almost everything. We sang and ate harmoniously. The host was Adrian Pang and Hady Mirza sang too. I wished I could ask them for autographs and take a picture with them. We had a great time and also a good bath in the rain!

Oh..fireworks!

The one thing that I will always remember about the NE show is the fireworks. They were so dazzling, beautiful and cool! I also like the black knights and their stunts. They almost crashed into each other but of course they didn’t. They were professional and brave.

P5 Camp

By : Ang Jia Qi

Primary 5B

I was looking forward to the P5 camp. When the day finally arrived, I was really excited. We assembled according to our classes in the school hall at about 7.30 am. When we arrived at Mersing, I discovered that we cannot play with our friends as we were grouped randomly. I was separated from my classmates. However, we learnt many things. I learnt kite-making and realized the importance of teamwork if we want to succeed. I also learnt many funny songs and enjoyed singing them. I love the food at Mersing. We ate Malay food such Nasi Lemak and Chicken rice. I wished that I could go there again!

I went to Mersing for camping. One of the activities that I enjoyed most and which left a deep impression on me was the jungle trekking. It was really amazing. In fact, it strengthened the bond between us, both the teachers as well as the pupils. We took a nice view of Mersing at the top of the mountain. The jungle trekking was challenging and I definitely displayed the school value of resilience throughout the trekking. The touching part was during bedtime….I realized that I missed my parents. It was indeed an
amazing experience

It was Saturday, July 19. All the P5 pupils from West View were going for the NE show. We assembled in the hall once we reached school. We were each given a goodie bag and a box of food for dinner. On the bus, we could not stop talking as the suspense was unbearable. Just as we were about to reach Marina Bay, it began to rain. We sighed. What a disappointment. We were looking forward to the show. Ms Sharmila told us to put on our cap and ponchos. We finally reached the ‘stadium’ and we settled down. The show started. There were so many performances but my favourites were the dances, fireworks and the jet planes. I was surprised that the performers continued to perform even though it was raining. They were really brave! The rain did not spoil our fun after all. We had such a great time at the show.

Last Saturday, after the open house, we went home to rest and went back to school later as we had to go for the NE show. When we reached City Hall, it started to rain. Yiting, Miao Wen, Ruriko and I sang some songs, hoping the rain would go away. During the show, celebrities such as Adrian Pang and Michelle Chong were our hosts. There were many performances but the best part was the fireworks, which lasted a few minutes. It was even nicer when it rained as the rain looked colourful with the fireworks display. Although we were caught in the rain, we had a wonderful experience.

We had a very fun time at the NE show. We alighted from the bus in front of Victoria Concert Hall. It started to rain but it did not dampen our moods. In fact, we seemed to be even more excited. MY friends started to sing the song ‘Rain Rain Go Away’ However, the rain did not‘go away’. Instead, it got heavier. Soon, we reached our destination and the show began. It was fabulous. The fireworks were bright and beautiful. We enjoyed the experience and we hope the show will be just as wonderful next year.

The NE show was very fun and exciting. The army, police and many others put up spectacular performances. The Black Knights flew magnificently across the sky. Of course my favourite was the fireworks. They were so colourful and lovely. I really enjoyed the NE show and I want to watch it again.

The NE show was an unforgettable experience for us. The stunts that the Black Knights performed were incredible. The Red Lions (parachuters) were terrific. We thought that they were going to land on water but they landed on the ground instead! Bravo! To end the evening, the sky was lit up by fireworks. We really had a wonderful time!

Next year again please!!!

It was a great day at the interesting and exciting NE show. The performers were performing on the floating platform. The jet planes (Black Knights) were cool but loud. The parachuters had red smoke coming out of their boots. Wow! We were very amazed by the fireworks. They were beautiful, marvellous and fantastic! We had a lot of fun. We hope to go here again.

Wei Jie, Jordan and Winston (5G)

NE SHOW ROCKED!!!

The NE show was a very interesting one despite the rain. We went to Marina Bay and we did the Marina wave! We saw many performances by students and soldiers. We saw parachuters fighter jets. The six parachuters were called ‘Red Lions’ and the pilots of the fighter jets were called 'Black Knights’. They were awesome! We were so proud of them. The fireworks were our favourite. There were red, blue, green, yellow, gold and many other colours lighting up the sky. We got many free gifts too. It was certainly an unforgettable day!

NE SHOW- My thoughts

Dear Pupils,

It is really great connecting with all of you through blogging. We hope that you will be inspired by our move towards blogging and send us all your thoughts and reflections. Let us have a kick start by writing about the NE show we went to recently.

I am going to share with you my two cents worth of the NE show. This was the first time i had been to a NE show. I was really glad that i went. Though it was raining, it did not deter our spirits in anyway. Looking at all the performances and the cool stunts done by the parachuters, the fireworks and reciting the national pledge together with hundreds and hundreds of spectators, made me feel very proud indeed to be a Singaporean. This is truly our home. The interesting part of this year NE show was that it was NEA's first attempt to promote it as 'Another Litter-free Event'. During the dress rehearsals and actual parade, banners and buntings were put up to remind spectators and participants not to litter. Show emcees and volunteers also constantly prompted spectators and participants not to litter. Extra trash bins were strategically positioned around the stadium, and spectators also found a trash bag in their goodie bags.

The results at NDP were very encouraging. More than one out of every two spectators bagged their refuse. The cleaning contractors took only five hours to clean the stadium after the parade compared to eight hours last year. This showed another quality characteristic of a Singaporean. Often we ourselves label us to be "Kiasu" or irresponsible Singaporeans. We cause ourselves the taboo that a Singaporean will often behave in a negative demeaning way. Did you notice the efforts all Singaporeans took in keeping the entire area clean? Do we still think we are irresponsible? Lets reflect.

Anyway, i enjoyed the show and i hope that i will get to go there again. It was indeed a memorable moment for me.

Bye!

Miss. Nisha
